Sustainable Development Goals

Post by kpearce » Wed Nov 21, 2018 8:18 pm

Grassroots momentum has been building throughout Canadian society to take action on the SDGs, a movement that Waterloo Global Science Initiative (WGSI) is looking to bolster through the launch of its Generation SDG initiative. It has developed a Blueprint for setting communities on a sustainable development path through its Generation SDG Workshop (November 14-16, 2017), Summit (April 22-25, 2018), and broader engagement with interested parties across Canada.

This vision for a community-driven approach to the SDGs developed throughout this process is anchored by investigations into community ecosystems and planning, partnerships, innovation, accountability and financing the SDGs.

The Generation SDG Blueprint panel will, through a cross-sectoral approach, explore the key drivers that can shape effective, community-led SDG implementation and the enabling conditions required to achieve Agenda 2030 in the Waterloo Region. A recording of the panel will be available after November 30 and updated here.

You can read the Generation SDG Blueprint here http://wgsi.org/generation-sdg and check out Power Shift WR http://powershiftwr.org/power-shift-home to learn about local events that are connected to the SDGs across Waterloo Region.
